Flocking

I have just Flocked my telescope =)

The theory behind it is that it prevents stray light from the moon or a street light bouncing off the inside surface of the telescope and into the eyepiece causing the image to wash out and loose contrast. It does this by absorbing the light.

This is a before shot(no flash) of my telescope will everything  removed including the mirrors, focuser and finder dovetail plate. It was then just a case of measuring the flocking material cutting it to size and sticking to the inside, any air bubbles that cant be pushed out can be got rid of my making a small cut in the bubble and pushing it down.

Here are the after shots one with a flash so you can see the texture and one without so you can see how dark it is.

It cost me £7 from First light optics, for a 100cm x 45cm piece you can get it here

If you have a questions please ask :)
